Site & Mail Outage This Afternoon
|
I replaced a management blade in our ServerIron 850
this afternoon and it ended up causing an outage. The
ServerIron, which had survived a failed card without
incident, subsequently failed when we tried to replace
the card.

MySQL Security Improvements
|
We have had to take some measures to further improve
our MySQL database server security today. Yet another
of our database servers was attacked today, causing us
to be forced to permanently firewall it off from the
outside world.

DC2 DNS Issues This Morning
|
DC2 had some pretty significant DNS slowdowns this
Sunday morning. It all seems to have been triggered by
a power supply failure.

dc2-mysql-01 UPGRADED
|
dc2-mysql-01.kattare.com has been upgraded from version
4.1 to version 5.1. Our apologies for the lack of
prior notice. We were having issues with the
replication in 4.1 and had to upgrade in a hurry, else
risk not having our backups function.

|
JDK 1.5 has been updated to 1.5.0_22 and JDK 1.6 has been
updated to 1.6.0_17.

HOME3 Update
|
The drive resync finished last night around 5 pm as
expected, but performance was still horrible. As of
9:00 AM PST this morning, we believe we have things
back to normal on the file server. Some web servers
have already been rebooted to help them catch up,
others are in progress.

HOME3 Fileserver Outage
|
We had a pretty bad wind & rain storm here last night.
The power flickered on and off several times. One of
the flickers/surges seems to have caused issues with
the enclosure for many of the HOME3 drives, causing
enough drives to be dropped from the array that
performance has been cut to less than half normal.

DC1 Network Outage
|
DC1 experienced a network outage between the times of
7:18 PM PST to 9:10 PM PST that affected all Internet
service and hosting customers. This issue was the
result of a core network equipment failure that
required an extensive rerouting and repairs outside of
normal procedures.
