ir1.cvo2.kattare.net has been having sporadic cpu spikes which have
caused some network instability. I have adjusted a setting which should
relieve the problem somewhat, and we are working on installing a new
switch to solve the problem into the future.

Verizon Business is going to be doing maintenance on our circuit on
October 24 and November 10 from midnight to 6:00 a.m to upgrade
router software and replace defective cards.

An fiber optic interface failed last night at around
1:45 AM PST on one of our top-level switches. Service
was restored just after 3:00 AM PST.

DNS Blackout

DNS was down this morning (Sat, Jul 12) between
midnight and 3:30 AM. The cause ended up being a
malformed domain name that had been plugged into the
system and wasn't caught by our regular expression filters.

Kattare will be installing a new AT&T DS3 circuit on
Monday. This will involve some reconfiguration of our
infrastructure, but the remaining two circuits should
pick up the slack, and there should be no customer impact.

Webmail Upgrade!

Our webmail has been upgraded! We had to mostly
abandon the old version for a couple of reasons. It
was pretty dated, and we couldn't get it to work under
PHP 5.

Generator Issues

I just wanted to let everyone know, our big diesel
generator failed the weekly test this evening. If the
power goes out before we can get it fixed, we will have
to resort to using our backup gasoline generators,
which are not automated. I will let everyone know when
we get it fixed.
