DC2 GigE Line Card Failure

One of the gigabit ethernet line cards in our core
router started failing this morning around 3:30 AM PST.
It was causing intermittent internal network issues
until around 9 AM PST. Once we had diagnosed the
issue, we promptly replaced it with a spare we had on
hand. A new spare is already en-route.

Brief Outages at DC2

We have finished our investigations, this is to let
everyone know what happened.
We have had two brief outages in the last couple of
days, each lasting for about 10 - 15 minutes or so.
The first was Saturday, Jan 19 around 11:30 AM PST, the
second was Monday, Jan 21 around 12:30 AM PST.

dc2-mysql-01 MySQL Server Replaced

After last weeks crash, we deployed the new
dc2-mysql-01 hardware this evening. Applications using
dc2-mysql-01 that do not automatically reconnect will
have to be restarted. Our apologies for the inconvenience!

dc2-mysql-01 MySQL Server Crash

The dc2-mysql-01 MySQL server crashed today. We can no
longer get it to boot past the raid controller
initialization. Once we realized it was not going to
come back up, we transferred MySQL service for
dc2-mysql-01 to our live replicated backup for it. No
data has been lost, the replication we used was up to
the second.

dc1-mysql-01 MySQL Server Replaced

The holiday season has claimed it's first casualty. We
had to replace out dc1-mysql-01 this evening. While
the traffic it was seeing was determined to be
legitimate, the load on the old hardware was so high it
was almost unusable. The new setup should be about 2x
as fast as the old.

/home1 Fileserver Outage

The /home1 fileserver at dc1 crashed this morning
around 3 AM, PST. There was a kernel panic due to a
filesystem error. The outage was especially long
because we had to scan the filesystem before we could
bring it back online.
