ir1.cvo2.kattare.net has been having sporadic cpu spikes which have
caused some network instability. I have adjusted a setting which should
relieve the problem somewhat, and we are working on installing a new
switch to solve the problem into the future.
Over the past few weeks I've been noticing on our monitoring system that
our main infrastructure switch has been having some problems with
pegging its CPU. I finally caught it in the act today so I could do a bit
more diagnosis and it looks like it's topping out the number of cache
entries in its route table. I increased the size of the IP route cache on the
box and hopefully that should help, but I'm keeping an eye on the box
over the holiday weekend. We are in the process of purchasing a newer
switch that should have a bit more capacity than this one. This should
solve the problem more permanently for us. I'll try to keep you up to date
on the replacement schedule and the downtime that will be associated
with it. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact
either me, or support.
