FTPS now available - 9/9/2009
FTPS is now available for all FTP accounts.
All FTP accounts can now connect with FTPS. With the
rise of the Gumblar worm grabbing FTP credentials and
altering website content to deliver malware to your
website visitors switching over to a secure FTP is
becoming more essential.

The host ftp.kattare.com is very likely the hostname
you are currently connecting to, this host is an FTP
proxy that sends you off to your home server.
Unfortunately, the FTP proxy can't proxy FTP over SSL.
To use FTPS you will need to connect directly to your
home server. If you are not sure of what the hostname
for the FTPS server is you can go to the FTP management
page in the Kattare members section here.

Most FTP clients allow you to select the protocol you
want to connect with. We are using FTPS over explicit
TLS/SSL. For most FTP clients all you will need to do
is change the hostname and select the new protocol to
connect with.

If you are using Internet Explorer or another type of
simple FTP connection you may need to get a more robust
FTP client. Filezilla is a very popular free, open
source FTP client that can run on most operating
systems. Here is a link to their download page.
