Datacenter 1 Outage This Morning
Datacenter 1, which hosts about 25% of our websites,
had an outage this morning. PEAK, Inc., the operators
of the facility, had the following to say about the outage:
Today PEAK experienced a network outage between the
times of 8:41 A.M. and 9:38 A.M. that affected all
Internet service and hosting customers. This issue was
related to the core network routing at PEAK and was
caused by an excessively long Autonomous Systems (AS)
path within a Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) route
announcement of a network outside the U.S.

This issue was experienced worldwide and it affected
the operation of thousands of other networks. It was a
situation that PEAK had no control over and we are
working hard to eliminate any future instances of this
problem. It is still unclear whether the outage was
caused by foul play or just an inexperienced network
operator.

Currently, the issue has been resolved and we apologize
for the inconvenience. We have invested significant
time and resources to ensure a maximum service level
for our customers and we will continue to work towards
that goal.

Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience and as always
it is a pleasure to serve you.
