The Kattare Network
Our Goal
Our goal here at Kattare is to achieve the best possible web site
performance on a global scale. Because our target audience is first the world,
and second the USA, we have strategically located our datacenter in a location with good
transit times to anywhere in the world. In addition, we have very carefully picked upline
providers that have their own international networks, virtually ensuring the fastest possible
response times. Anyone can be fast within the US, but it takes planning and
diligence to get good results internationally.
Graphing Data From Netcraft
Most organizations recognize Netcraft (www.netcraft.com)
as a premier source of information about the internet. One of the statistics Netcraft tracks
is round trip IP transit times to over 50 of the top web hosts. The following graph is
compiled in near realtime by harvesting the data off of Netcraft's uptime server. (see:
uptime.netcraft.com)
We would have liked to graph the results of some of our more direct competitors (MMA,
Servlets.Net, KGB Internet, etc.) but Netcraft doesn't seem to track any of them.
We re-generate this graph approximately every 1/2 hour. Since it depends heavily on the html
formatting of the Netcraft website, it's been know to break occasionally, so if it's broken,
please email support@kattare.com and let us know!
Interesting Notes About The Graph
-- Netcraft has more East Coast and European monitoring points than West Coast, Asia,
or Austrailian monitoring points. Thus the monitoring system is weighted slightly in favor of
hosts on the East Coast, USA.
-- Some of the results are skewed because a monitoring point is near to the web host being
monitored. IE: the San Jose monitoring point is right next to Hurricane Electric.
(or possibly is even hosted there.)
-- We initially had www.easynet.net on the graph, but their times were so much higher on the
Sydney hops that it was skewing the scale on the graph's Y-axis.
